However, it turns out that it wasn't a bona fide hack as such - rather, the site briefly allowed savvy individuals to insert any text in the header space by typing into the url, Slate reported. 

The glitch also allowed users to change the headline to read, for example, 'Congratulations to President-Elect Clinton' and 'Trump is bad at internet'.xt

The Donald had earlier warned about possible voting fraud, saying he was 'afraid the election is going to be rigged' - little expecting his own site to be 'rigged' albeit temporarily.

After about an hour of mischief-making, the bug was fixed by Trump's tech team. 
On a more serious note, officials in the Department of Homeland Security, Justice Department, FBI, CIA, the Pentagon and the NSA are continuing to monitor potential threats.
Hackers could still try to undermine the electoral process by taking out communications or power networks. Or try to take the poop emoji concept to a whole new level...
