A 28-year-old techie was arrested on Friday for hacking Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's Twitter handle in 2014, police said.
The accused, Madhusudhan RK, hails from Nodekoppalu village in Mandya taluk and is employed with a private company on Sarjapur Road, according to media reports.
Days before its launch, the handle @CM of Karnataka was hacked and used to post controversial statements. The handle was also renamed @naanegaddappa (I’m the one who is a man with beard).
The accused had said that he hacked the handle ‘just for fun’. “I had no evil intentions. I wanted to mock the system by hacking the CM's account and post ridiculous messages,” he was quoted as saying.
The handle, scheduled to launch on August 12, 2014, saw a few posts from the CM’s temporary Facebook account being posted anonymously. A complaint was registered. One of the fake news posts said the government was going to develop 135 slums in Bengaluru for Rs 2,000 crore.
