The website of Surat District Education Officer (DEO) was hacked
today, as per ANI report. A message on the portal read, Pakistan
Zindabad, just a security warning. It also read hacked by Cyber_Hunter,
the report says. The website was restored subsequently. This comes after
several government websites were hacked in recent months. In February,
the Ministry of Home Affairs website was hacked, prompting authorities
to temporarily block it, according to PTI report. The MHA website was
immediately blocked by the National Informatics Centre after hacking was
noticed.
In January this year, suspected Pakistan-affiliated operatives had hacked the official website of the elite National Security Guard (NSG) and defaced it with a profanity-laden message against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and anti-India content. Over 700 websites of various central and state government departments were hacked in the past four years and a total of 8,348 persons were arrested for their involvement in cyber crimes, according to official data released this month, a PTI report says.
In June, the official website of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) had been hacked and the association has lodged a complaint at the police headquarters Lal Bazar.
In March, the official website of the IRS officers belonging to the Income Tax department was hacked. A screen grab of the hacked site read: “shame on your security. Your site is hacked is because of your high security!” along with messages like “Pakistan Zindabad”. A message posted on the wall of the portal read “Pak Cyber Thunders. Hacked by Pak MOnster!”
