NASHIK: Cyber criminals have hacked the website of the regional transport office (RTO) here and downloaded vehicle fitness certificates issued by it.RTO inspector Hemant Govind Hemade on Saturday lodged an FIR with the cyber crime police station, stating that the suspects downloaded two vehicle fitness approval certificates without the officials' knowledge.After hacking the website, the suspects managed to open the link of the vehicle fitness certificates with the help of the login Id and password. Hemade spotted this during routine office work on August 16.Cyber crime police station inspector Anil Pawar said investigations were on to find out if other links of the website have also been hacked or not. He added that a case has been registered under various sections of the IT Act, 2000 and for cheating.When contacted, regional transport officer (Nashik) Rajendra Kadam told on Sunday that police were investigating the matter and any comment by him "could hamper the investigation".State transport commissioner Praveen Gedam said he was unaware of any such issue at the Automatic Vehicle Inspection and Certification Centre at RTO, Nashik.
